Sharing Files

Sharing files with tenants and owners is easy in Rentec Direct property management software.

Upload and Share a File

Tenants and Owners can easily view documents, photos, or videos that have been uploaded or shared to their file library when they log into their portals. Your Rentec Direct account includes an Account File Library, where most Files are stored, and individual File Libraries for each Tenant, Owner, Property, Vendor, and Payee. Files can be uploaded directly to any of the File Libraries and then shared with tenants and owners. 

System Note: Tenant and Owner portals must be enabled for them to access the files. Learn more about enabling  Tenant Portals and Owner Portals

The following steps walk through how to upload and share files.

In your Rentec Direct account: 

1. Click on Tenants, Properties, or Owners
   1. To upload a File to a Vendor or Payee File Library
      1. Click on Settings
      2. Under People, click on Vendors & Payees
   2. To upload a File to your Account File Library
      1. Click on Settings
      2. Under Tools, click on File Library
2. Right-click on the desired person or property
3. Click on File Library 
4. Click on Upload 
5. Select the File or Document
6. Right-click on the File and click on File Sharing
7. Select the Tenant and/or Owner to share the file with

Pro Tips:

• When sharing files from a Property, any Tenant and Owner associated with that property will be highlighted in yellow to make selection easy
• When Tenants and Owners log into their portal, they will see a new File tab that allows them to view and download a sortable list of all files that have been shared with them.

System Note: Easily add photos to your marketing page by uploading images to property File Libraries. Using the File Sharing option, check the box to Use Photo for Listing and the image will automatically import to your marketing page.
